WHEN DID YOU START AND TRAINING AND WHY?? - I started training when I was 17.
Saw a Tae Kwon Do competition on television and wanted to give Martial Arts a
go.
HOW LONG WAS IT BEFORE YOU STARTED TO COMPETE?? - I was training for about a
year before I entered my first competition.
CAN YOU REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT YOUR FIRST COMPETITIVE FIGHT?? - Yeah, it was a
semi contact (points) competition and the guy I was matched against happened to
be a black belt. I was scared stiff!
WHAT'S YOUR FULL CONTACT RECORD NOW?? - 20 fights, 18 wins, 2 losses
ANY TITLES?? - Current WKU British Welterweight Champion, former Southern Area &
English Super Welterweight Champion, former English Welterweight Champion.
THE TOUGHEST FIGHT?? - There's been a few tough ones! I remember successfully
defending my English title against Andrew Lowe form Newark and the fight was in
his hometown. I remember that being a very tough fight. We were toe to toe for
virtually the whole fight.
Another was against Chris Carslow from Scotland. I gave away some weight to take
the fight, and he is a very accurate and hard hitter! This was a very close and
tough fight, he won the fight on a split decision.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU?? - Hopefully going to America in March with Paul Wiffen
and Darren Forrest to Fight Bernard "Swiftkicks" Robinson. Then in May I get to
fight Jason Vasallo. I'm looking forward to both very much!
AFTER THAT WHAT WOULD YOU HOPE TO HAPPEN FOR YOU OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF
YEARS.?? - My goal over the next couple of years would be to hopefully win a
European title then go on to fight for a World title.
WHO DO YOU ADMIRE OUT OF THE CURRENT FIGHTERS??. - John Orchard's a great
fighter. I also like Samir Mohammed.
ONCE YOU FINISHED FIGHTING DO YOU SEE YOURSELF STAYING IN THE SPORT IN SOME
CAPACITY?? - Yes definitely, I'd like to help continue bring through the rest of
the talented people we have at the club.
ANY THING YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?? - Yes, big thanks to Trevor "The Bear"
Spencer. Thanks to his hard work, dedication and motivation I've achieved more
than I thought possible, and hope to go on to do even more!!
